What is a Winter Fuel Payment?
Winter Fuel Payment is an annual tax-free payment for households that include someone born on or before 24 September 1957 (for 2023-24). It's designed to help you cover your heating costs in winter.
How much Winter Fuel Payment could I get?
If you were born on or before 24 September 1957, you could get up to £600 to help with your bills in winter this year. The exact amount depends on your age and whether other people in your household also qualify.
Am I eligible for Winter Fuel Payment?
If you were born on or before 24 September 1957, you're likely to qualify for a Winter Fuel Payment in the winter of 2023-24, as long as you were living in the UK during the qualifying week.
The qualifying week is the week beginning from the 3rd Monday in September.
Do you want to donate your Winter Fuel Payment?
Many of our supporters tell us they would like to donate their Winter Fuel Payment.
We are expecting to support thousands of people in poverty over the winter months. Food and fuel poverty are at crisis levels, the worst we have seen in decades. We are working tirelessly to help as many people as we can, but we can’t do this alone.
So if you are able to donate your Winter Fuel Payment to help those in desperate need of support, then please do. Your donation will mean we can be there to help vulnerable people in our community stay fed, warm and safe this winter.
From midday on 13th November, we will have a "Double Donations" match funding campaign via Aviva Community Fund. If you donate via our Aviva match funding page, any donations you make up to £250 will be doubled and you can add Gift Aid too. (this link will not go live until midday 13th November)
If you wish to donate prior to 13th November, please do so via our Donate page or see here for other ways to donate.
