A Huddersfield rock band renowned for its brilliant support for charities has raised almost £8,000 for Huddersfield’s food bank with a sell-out gig.

Razorbach’s concert at The Picturedrome in Holmfirth is the latest in a series of big fundraising gigs over the last few years … and they have such a loyal following they are always sold out.

In the past the band has raised money for hospices in Huddersfield and Elland, the Teenage Cancer Trust, Mountain Rescue, Friend to Friend befriending charity for older people in Huddersfield and Platform 1 mental health charity.

Lead singer Richard O’Hara said: “We are blown away by the generosity and support of our fans. To see the community come together for such a vital cause is truly heart-warming. Music has the power to bring people together and we are thrilled to channel that energy into making a positive impact right here in Huddersfield.

“We chose The Welcome Centre because we know how important their work is within the local community and they have been providing this support for such a long time.”

Emma Greenough, fundraising manager at The Welcome Centre, said: “For so many people the cost of living crisis means it’s not the luxuries people are going without, it’s the basics such as food, heating and hot water.

“Razorbach raised £7,930 which can provide 428 people with a week’s worth of food, just from one amazing night. We really are grateful to these guys for choosing us.

“Razorbach’s dedication to making a positive impact on the community through their music is helping charities like ours make a real difference to people’s lives. Their passionate fanbase rallied behind the cause, demonstrating the collective strength of the local community.”

Top raffle prize was a week’s skiing in France donated by Huddersfield-based ski holiday company Le Ski.
