We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Mac's Trucks has made history with the largest corporate donation ever received by The Welcome Centre – an incredible £28,863.30 raised over the last 12 months! And the good news doesn’t stop there… Mac’s Trucks has chosen to continue supporting us for another year as their Charity of the Year!
A Year of Unforgettable Support
Mac’s Truck Sales, a leading UK family-run commercial vehicle dealer and body builder, has a proud 50-year history and is based right here in Huddersfield. Over the past year, their entire team has embraced our mission wholeheartedly – and it shows. From marathon runs and quiz nights to an incredible Christmas toy collection, their commitment to helping people in crisis has been nothing short of inspiring.
Next on the agenda? A team from Macs will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge – joined by our very own Fundraising Manager, Charlie Taylor.
A Message from Our CEO
Ellie Coteau, Chief Executive at The Welcome Centre, shared her thanks:
* "We're incredibly grateful to Mac's Trucks for the fantastic support they provide to The Welcome Centre. Mac's have engaged their whole workforce with supporting us, and that engagement has really paid off - they've raised an amazing £28,863.00 over the last 14 months. This money enables us to continue to deliver our essential services to people in crisis in our community, providing emergency food and other essentials, as well as an advice and guidance service. At The Welcome Centre we're committed to supporting people in our community, but we rely on the support of our community to do that; Mac's Trucks' support is a fantastic example of a local business making a difference in the local community, and we look forward to continuing to work with them."*
Why Macs Chose to Support The Welcome Centre
Joanna McDade, Finance Manager at Mac’s Trucks, explained the motivation behind their support:
*“At Macs Trucks, we believe in giving back to the community that supports us. Partnering with The Welcome Centre means more than just offering help, it’s about standing alongside local people facing tough times, which can affect anyone at any time. Through practical support, fundraising, and awareness campaigns, we’re proud to contribute to the Centre’s vital work to help make a real difference and positively impact in people’s lives. Food poverty in the Kirklees has a multifaceted impact. Adversely affecting an individual’s health, access to education and employment prospects. Mac’s have chosen to support the Welcome Centre as our long-term CSR partnership as we firmly believe a persons basic access to food is core to enabling them to move forward to access other support services, assist them to overcome the challenges they maybe facing or assist them to break the cycle of food poverty."*
Looking Ahead
Fundraising Manager Charlie Taylor has been closely involved with the team at Macs and shared:
*“It’s been such a pleasure working with the Macs team. I joined them for their quiz night and was blown away by their enthusiasm and generosity. I’m really looking forward to joining them – with my husband – on the Three Peaks Challenge!
A huge thank you to everyone at Macs for your incredible support and for continuing this amazing partnership.”*
From everyone at The Welcome Centre – thank you, Mac’s Trucks!
Your support is helping us change lives across Kirklees.
