Huddersfield Town Foundation Brings Digital Access and Festive Support to Local Families

This festive season, families across Huddersfield and the surrounding areas received vital support thanks to the generosity of Huddersfield Town Foundation and Huddersfield Town AFC, working in partnership with The Welcome Centre.

As part of their Christmas support, the Foundation donated brand new laptops to help reduce digital exclusion for people facing hardship. These devices will enable families to better access online services, education, and employment opportunities, opening doors that are increasingly essential in everyday life.

Alongside this, funding from the Foundation helped The Welcome Centre provide 100 Christmas meal vouchers to individuals and families in need. Rather than receiving a pre-prepared meal, people were given the freedom to choose food that best suited their own circumstances, helping preserve dignity during what can be a challenging time of year.

The partnership between Huddersfield Town Foundation and The Welcome Centre has grown stronger over many years, most visibly through the annual Big Sleep Out event. Now in its seventh year, the event has raised almost £10,000 which was shared between The Welcome Centre and Huddersfield Town Foundation.

This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to strengthening communities by increasing opportunity, connection, and wellbeing for people across Kirklees.

Sam Dainty, Chief Executive Officer of Huddersfield Town Foundation, said the initiative was about more than seasonal support:

"Christmas can be an incredibly difficult time for many families, and we are committed to doing what we can to support our community. Providing meals and laptops is about more than meeting immediate needs, it’s about giving people dignity, opportunity, and hope. Our partnership with The Welcome Centre is a powerful example of what can be achieved when organisations come together for the good of our town."

Charlie Taylor, Fundraising Manager at The Welcome Centre, highlighted the importance of choice and long-term impact:

“We’re extremely thankful for the continued backing from Huddersfield Town Foundation. Their funding enabled us to provide Christmas meal vouchers this year, giving people the ability to choose food that worked for them and their families.

“We were also delighted to receive the donated laptops, which will make a lasting difference by helping families access education, services, and opportunities that many of us take for granted.

“This ongoing partnership is incredibly valuable to us, and we’re excited to continue working together to support our community in the years ahead.”

Thanks again Huddersfield Town Foundation and Huddersfield Town AFC 💙💜
