HNC is delighted to announce that following an appeal to staff and students to ‘bring a tin’ during the College’s Christmas Jumper Day, HNC has made a large donation of items to local food bank, The Welcome Centre, who are also the HNC Charity of the Year for 2022-23.
Two collection stations which have been displayed across the College campus were today collected by The Welcome Centre Fundraising Manager, Emma Greenough, and both were so full that additional collections had to be made. Items from store cupboard essentials to personal hygiene products were donated, and there was also an opportunity to donate money too. The Welcome Centre support vulnerable families within Kirklees, providing items such as food and toiletries to those in need, and the donations today will make a genuine difference to the individuals and families who are supported by The Welcome Centre.
Erika Montgomery, Director of Equality and Diversity, comments “I am blown away by the generosity of our staff and students in the lead up to the festive break. Between us we have managed to fill two large collections stations (and more!) with much needed items for our local food bank. Not only has everyone been incredibly generous in donating items, they have also donated a fantastic £150 which was raised over multiple lunchtimes this week. As a College we are delighted to support this very worthy charity and hope that our donations go some way in helping to support vulnerable members of our community during these festive period”.
Emma Greenough adds "Thank you for such fantastic support and for the efforts made by both staff and students to donate to our food bank. We look forward to working with HNC in the New Year".
