Gledholt in Huddersfield has recently donated a fantastic range of much-needed supplies to our food bank.
Based on Greenhead Road, Gledholt is a community residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities as part of Cygnet Social Care. This year, staff and the people they support chose to do some fundraising for a local charity.
Together, they organised a collection of essential items for The Welcome Centre, including food, toiletries and household goods. Service users even created their own donation boxes, which they filled with care and creativity before delivering it alongside several additional bags of donations.
Millie Jackson, Activity Coordinator, shared that the idea came from a desire to support a charity closer to home, particularly as some of the people they support have accessed The Welcome Centre in the past. It was important to them to give back to a service that plays such a vital role in the local community.
The donation was delivered by Millie and Diane Taylor, Gledholt’s cook, and was a great opportunity for everyone involved to feel part of something positive while helping others in need.
Charlie Taylor, Fundraising Manager at The Welcome Centre, said: “It was so special to hear why Gledholt chose to support us. Knowing that some of their residents have previously accessed our service makes this feel like a real full circle moment. We’re incredibly grateful for the support and want to thank everyone involved for their kindness and generosity.”
