Jinda and her husband were so excited about the imminent birth of their first child. Her pregnancy had all gone to plan, but during the birth, she experienced medical complications.
My baby was born healthy but I now need surgery and have heavy bleeding on a daily basis.
The hospital sent Jinda and her new baby home until surgery was available. Her husband lost his job due to the Covid pandemic, which meant their finances were stretched from buying all the baby items they needed. With a reduced income, Jinda started skipping meals so that she could buy maternity pads she desperately needed until she was finally referred to The Welcome Centre.
We helped her and her husband apply for Universal Credit and contacted her GP surgery to ask if they could supply the pads on prescription. The GP was unable to help, so The Welcome Centre Advice team contacted ACTS435 for a grant to support the couple.
Acts435 provided a grant of £40 to buy a supply of these products whilst she waits for surgery. The Welcome Centre provided several food packs and toiletries whilst they waited for their benefits to begin.
This has given me hope that I'm coming out of the dark days. Having my baby is amazing but all the problems have saddened me, thank you and may God bless you.
