Support Our Van Appeal
Help Us Keep Delivering Support to Those Who Need It Most
At The Welcome Centre, we believe that no one in Huddersfield should go hungry. Every day, we provide emergency food packs and essential items to people experiencing crisis, but right now, we’re facing a crisis of our own.
Our vital van has had to be scrapped, and without a replacement, we can’t continue to reach some of the most vulnerable members of our community.
Why a Van Matters
Our van is crucial to everything we do. It helps us collect donated food from local suppliers and supermarkets and ensures surplus food is redistributed to the people who need it most.
Many of the people we support can't collect their food packs in person. Some are living with disabilities or long-term illnesses. Others are caring for young children, or simply can’t afford the cost of public transport. Without a van, these families risk going without the essentials they rely on to get by.
What a New Van Will Do
A new delivery van would allow us to:
Collect vital food donations from across the region
Deliver emergency food packs directly to people’s homes
Continue our flexible, hybrid model of support — in person and on the doorstep
Make sure no one is left behind due to mobility, money, or circumstances
Last year, we delivered 5,415 food packs to people who couldn’t collect in person. Every one of those deliveries meant someone had food on the table and hope in a difficult time.
