This week, The Welcome Centre was pleased to deliver a training session hosted by Third Sector Leaders (TSL), an organisation that supports community groups, charities, and voluntary sector organisations across Kirklees.
The session focused on how The Welcome Centre has embedded a trauma-informed approach throughout the organisation. Attendees heard about the steps we have taken to ensure our services are delivered in a way that recognises the impact of trauma and prioritises dignity, understanding, and compassion. This approach not only benefits the individuals and families who access our services but also supports the wellbeing of our staff and volunteers.
As an organisation committed to continuous learning and improvement, we welcomed the opportunity to share our experiences and reflect on the positive impact that trauma-informed practice can have within community settings. The session also provided a valuable forum for discussion, enabling organisations from across the third sector to exchange ideas, share good practice, and explore ways to strengthen support for the communities they serve.
Collaboration and knowledge sharing are essential in helping the sector respond effectively to the challenges faced by individuals and families across Kirklees. We were delighted to contribute to these conversations and to learn from the experiences of others.
We would like to thank TSL for hosting such a constructive and collaborative event and for bringing together organisations committed to making a positive difference in their communities.
