Start the summer holidays with family festival, Marshfest.

Marshfest, a not for profit festival, donates all proceeds to charity partner, The Welcome Centre.

This year’s festival takes place from 7pm Friday 19th July until late and from noon till late on Saturday 20th July.  Huddersfield Ukrainian Club, Edgerton Road, Marsh have offered up their stunning grounds once again, a perfect location for 13 live bands to strut their stuff. 

Grass roots local music is at the heart of this festival, with a couple of tribute bands thrown in. 

This year’s headline acts, on the Magic Rock Brewing Stage include, The Exiled Stones and Ozzbest, whilst the Camel Club stage will see Huggy and Tribal Shoots along with many more live performances.  You can find the full line up here.

Tickets for this family focused festival, remain at just £5, and offers a huge array of entertainment for everyone. 

Every performer plays for free, in support of The Welcome Centre, with many such as Huggy, Boo Sutcliffe, Flock of 3 and The Blind Dead McJones Band returning for a second or third time.  For the full line up and to buy tickets visit http://marshfest.net/

As the schools break up, this festival is an affordable way to start the summer holidays. 

Just £5 per adult per day and children under 14 go free. Or for £10 you get a t-shirt thrown in.  

As well as a wide range of live music to suit most tastes, there’ll be face painting, rides, a bouncy castle, go karts and craft activities for the kids, with lots of space for them to run around and play. Local DJ, Happy Heads will keep the music going between sets and there will be variety of stalls on site. 

Top notch food, including vegan and vegetarian options, will be provided by Dabbawala, Grandads Chippy Bus and Smokies BBQ.  Grumpy Mule will be on hand with fresh coffee, and as a festival sponsor, they are donating all their proceeds to The Welcome Centre too. Two bars will keep the drinks flowing, and hopefully the sun will shine for us.

In the last 2 years, the money we’ve raised has provided more than 11,000 meals for individuals and families who are in poverty. Without The Welcome Centre, people would be going hungry, and that’s why we partner with them. We want to do what we can, to help people in that situation. They are seeing more and more people come through their doors each year, so we want to make sure we raise as much money as possible.

Marshfest has become our biggest fundraising event. Being the charity partner of Marshfest is something The Welcome Centre hugely values. Not only does the money raised make a huge difference, but it’s a chance for families to enjoy an affordable festival. We know that families are struggling locally, and the summer holidays can be extremely expensive, so this event can offer some fun for everyone at just £5.  Referrals to The Welcome Centre have gone up by 50% in the last 12 months, which gives a huge indication of how local people are struggling to make ends meet.
