Can you believe we are already in December.
So much has happened in the last 12 months at The Welcome Centre.
We've given out the equivalent of nearly 200,000 meals
37% more packs have been given out compared to the previous 12 months
We've supported 3,878 people of which 1,222 were children.
And how have we done this? With the support of our community.
With heart felt thanks from all of The Welcome Centre team.
The Welcome Centre website has a fresh new look
With so much of our time spent using the internet to search for what we want, The Welcome Centre team decided it was time for us to have a more user friendly website. You may have already taken a look but if not you'll find us at the same address www.thewelcomecentre.orgbut we hope you'll find it much easier to use.
Some of the updates are below
Shortages -they can be found on the home page as well as under Support Us. There's our top 12 items, seasonal requests, latest updates and a full list of what we do and don't take.
Online donations - you can now make either a one off or regular payment to us without even leaving the website. It's secure and easy to use, whenever you want to make a financial donation.
Client stories- The whole purpose of The Welcome Centre, is to support local people in crisis. One area we've perhaps not been as good at in the past, is sharing with you, our supporters, how we've helped people in need. We've added 6 new case studies, of real people who have received support and advice in the last 12 months.
Feedback - we welcome any feedback on the website, including anything extra you'd like to see included. Let Emma know at[email protected]
December has arrived and in homes across the country, cardboard doors will be opened in the traditional countdown to Christmas.
But we're asking you to reverse things this advent - with a calendar that gives back.
The idea is simple; instead of opening the door to a chocolate or picture, you do the giving.
Make a small donation each day of advent, to help us with our shortages.
Every day a new door on the advent calendar will open, to reveal one of our shortages.
Each item will have a value and we ask you to make a donation to cover the cost of that shortage.
You can donate every day during reverse advent but you don't have to, it's completely up to you. You can even choose to donate each week, or to make one big donation to cover the whole shortage list on Christmas Eve.
We'll be updating the website and our social media pages at lunch time each day, so you can can see the latest shortage item.
Donate using the button on the page
On the donate page, tick "reverse advent" in the communication list so we know how to use it.
